What is shockwave?

Shockwaves are large amplitude pressure waves produced by an object moving faster than the speed of sound like a boat or plane, or other things such as an explosion, lightning or even a moving piston. Like an ordinary wave, a shock wave carries energy and can propagate through a medium but is characterized by an abrupt, nearly discontinuous, change in pressure, temperature, and density of the medium.

What is Shockwave Therapy?

It is a safe and effective technology utilizing shockwaves, whcih can easily penetrate the skin and transmit mechanical energy to painful spots and musculoskeletal tissues with subacute, subchronic and chronic conditions, the energy promotes regeneration and reparative processes of superficial cells, blood capillary, bones, tendons and other soft tissues. Is there any discomfort during treatment?

There are repetitive clicking sounds during the treatment, it may cause a disturbance, fortunately, it only lasts several minutes for one session, and it may cause your hand tense basing on continuous vibration of handpiece during treatment. Furthermore, kindly suggest you start treatment from lower energy output to higher.

Is there any discomfort and precautions after treatment?

The affected parts may experience mild tenderness, numbness, swelling or blood stasis in the treated area in the first 1-3 days after treatment. Normally it can be tolerated and will recede in the following few days, as this is an indication of the healing process, so, it’s important to avoid taking any anti-inflammatory medication like ibuprofen after treatment, which may counteract the treatment results. Furthermore, it’s necessary to avoid exercise for 48 hours.
